Santa's List

Reese wanted to put her Christmas list together extra early this year. It is her first Christmas after all and she's excited.

1. A new Pat the Bunny book.
  Her current one is tattered.

2. Anything Baby Einstein.

3. Her four front teeth.

Okay, I guess she has the last one covered already.

The State Fair Rocked

Well, we did it!

We went to the State Fair of Oklahoma.

It did not disappoint.

Just as Joe feared...I gnawed on some roasted corn.

As did Reese.

Joe hid out somewhere while all this took place.

Only kidding.

He is used to my shenanigans by now.

We took Reese to the livestock building where we encountered freshly hatched baby chicks.

She also got to pet a rabbit.

The best part (for me) was sitting on the picnic tables, eating, people watching, and hearing Reese go "Mmmmm" to her first nibble of the Indian Taco fried bread.

Yeah, I said it once and I'll say it again.

Puppy Love

Reese met Boomer Scoobie Sanders this past weekend. It was puppy love at first sight.

Boomer Scoobie seemed to like her, too.

Thanks for being so sweet to Reese, Boomer!

We miss you already.

Reese met another new puppy.

She didn't seem to mind that it wasn't a REAL puppy.

This toy puppy still let her pet it,

and stick her fingers up its' nose and in its' mouth.

What can I say?

This girl loves puppies and I love that about her.

Choosy

Choosy moms choose Jif.

Choosy babies dump their toy boxes over and choose their own toys. I guess you can call Reese a choosy baby, because that's exactly what she's been doing lately.

You've been busted little girl.

You're super cute, so it's OK.

I love you, my choosy little girl.

12

We met at 12 o'clock for lunch last Sunday to celebrate my nephew Jackson's 12th birthday. He made me an Aunt, "Aunt KK" as a matter of fact, on September 3rd, 1999. I thought he was the cutest thing I'd ever laid eyes on and 12 years later his cuteness hasn't worn off.

Here we are together all those years ago.
Special memories for me.

On Sunday he happily reenacted the whole cuddling event.

Ok, so it might have been a little forced on his part, but I was able to get the shot nonetheless.

We ate at a place called Pops located on Route 66. It has a selection of over 500 hundred soda pops. The food is good, too.

Reese was there celebrating as well. She tried some mashed potatoes, bread, and a french fry. She thought she had hit the jackpot. Yum! Yum!

She enjoyed getting loved on by her Papa Bear

and Nana Charlotte.

The weather was just perfect with a nice breeze.

Cousin Karson helped feed Reese a bottle.
She is always very attentive to Reese's needs.

It was great to come together and celebrate such a special person.

We all love you, Jackson!

8

Reese turned 8 months old today.

She's 2/3s or 67% of a year old.

It's hard to believe.

I think I say this every month, but it's true.

Happy

(8th month old) Birthday

To

You, Reese!

And, Thanks to Karson for making her the special birthday outfit!

Jump Frog, Jump

Reese looked incredibly cute this evening in her froggy pajamas. I didn't think it was possible for her to be any cuter.

I was wrong.

Her cuteness intensified when I put this little froggy in her jump and jive.

JUMP Reese, JUMP!

Borderline

This is borderline child abuse.

Poor, poor Reese.

This is the man who dressed her in this outfit.

There's only one thing left to say...

BOOMER SOONER!

A Great State of a Fair

The start of September means it's time to start gearing up for the Oklahoma State Fair. The State Fair marks the beginning of my holiday season. If you don't know much about me--know this--I LOVE HOLIDAYS! My favorite is Christmas, followed by Halloween, Thanksgiving, and The State Fair. Yes, The State Fair is an official holiday as far as I am concerned.

My love of the State Fair started with this man.

He's my mom's dad. My Grandpa Jack Pappas. I am unsure of whether he liked attending the State Fair, however, I know he enjoyed watching Rodgers and Hammerstein's movie State Fair. Sometimes when I would stay overnight with him and my Grandma he would ask, "State Fair?" He was a man of few words, but I knew this meant he wanted to watch State Fair and wanted me to watch it with him. I must admit musicals are "just not my thing," but this musical is worth watching and I still do every year when The State Fair rolls around.

I wish you were here to watch it with me Papa Jack.

My dad, whose a firefighter for Oklahoma City, called the other day and wanted to know whether I wanted discounted tickets to this year's State Fair. The fire department sells them early and for only 5 dollars versus 9 at the gate. Ummm...What do you think?

I only bought 4 tickets thinking Joe's limit on taking me would probably be twice and since Reese gets in free we are all set! I can hardly wait. Neither. Can. Joe.

I wish I was pregnant, like last year, that way I could eat whatever I wanted and not care about the consequences.

Corn dog anyone?

Roasted corn on the cob with a jug of old fashioned root beer?

Yea, last year's fair experience is going to be tough to beat.

Who am I kidding? I may not be 5 months pregnant this year, but I plan on eating corn dogs, roasted corn, cinnamon rolls and whatever else I can get down, because it only happens once a year and that's just the kinda girl I am.

SIDE NOTE: The shirt I am wearing belongs to my sister-in-law, Kerry, who wanted one of us to wear it to the State Fair. It's a picture of her brother and his wife. They try to wear it all around the world and get photos of different people wearing it. Don't worry, I hardly got any weird looks. I fit right in with the "other people" there. If you've ever been to a State Fair you know it equals GREAT people watching.

I'll leave you with two things:

(1) The link to the Oklahoma State Fair website.
I know after reading this you will be urged to attend.

State Fair of Oklahoma 2011

(2) The theme song for the movie State Fair.

May you love it as much as me.
